Book Recommendations
Hey,
I was wondering if anyone could recommend some books that would be useful for C++, Java, and OpenGL?

Thanks
Hi,

I highly recommend the OpenGL Game Programming book which is shown in the right sidebar. Java : The Complete Reference and C++ : The Complete reference are excellent books for learning Java and C++. You may also find "Teach Yourself C++ in 21 days" useful.

Grant
Hi, there I was just wondering if any of the books on Programming, like C++ or JAVA, Win32 ect.... are good to start reading and learnig off,if you have never programmed before, or if you didn't go good at school?

AND also I was interested in making Games,What would I need to Learn and the books for absolute beginners?

Thanks
Hi,

1) I definitely recommend purchasing a book or two if you are starting to learn to program. Even though a great amount of information is available on the net, it is extremely convenient to have a book to go through. It is also quite nice to have something which can be read away from the computer.

2) It depends on what type of games you are wanting to make (mobile, 2D/3D, java, C++, flash, etc.) If you are just starting to program, I would recommend that you first learn a programming language such as Java, C++ or C#. From there you can go onto graphics APIs such as OpenGL or DirectX.

Regards,
Grant
