OpenGL Tutorials

I have started working on the OpenGL tutorials. At present, I am currently writing the tutorial explaining the Win32 basecode that will be used for future tutorials. It is a rather large tutorial, containing about 450 lines of code. The tutorials will explain how to create OpenGL applications using either Win32 or GLUT. Source downloads will be available for both Windows and Linux.

DirectX April 2005 SDK

A new DirectX SDK has been released. This release includes changes to D3DX library, graphics samples, tools, and documentation updates.

Picotux

German electronics company Kleinhenz is shipping a network-enabled Linux system barely larger than a standard RJ-45 Ethernet jack. "Picotux" is based on the DigiConnect ME module from NetSilicon, along with a 2.4.27 uClinux port.

New Tutorials

There have not been any new tutorials posted for a while as I have been extremely busy with University projects. I am hoping to get some tutorials done in the next few days. From looking at the poll, most people seem to be interested in OpenGL so the next tutorial released will be for OpenGL.

Google Code

Google has released an area on their site for external developers interested in Google-related development. They will publish free source code and lists of API services that incorporate Google.

E-mail Problems

Yesterday I was notified that some of my e-mails were deleted. I love reliable servers. If you have sent an e-mail and I have not replied, please resend it. I will always reply to every e-mail I receive.

OpenGL ES Coding Competition

Good news. I won first prize in the tutorials category for the OpenGL ES Coding Competition held by Khronos. You can view the winners here.

ShaderStudioMAX

ShaderStudioMAX is a multipurpose IDE (Integrated Development Environment) for Shader-based 3D Applications. The new revision of ShaderStudioMAX is freeware.

ShaderGen

ShaderGen, an educational tool for generating GLSL shaders from fixed functionality has been released. The purpose of this application is to show that programmable hardware can be used to obtain the same rendering results as the OpenGL fixed function path.

AMD Launches New 64-bit Laptop Processor

AMD has launched its new Turion 64 processor family for high-end laptops, designed for thinner and lighter notebooks, longer battery life, enhanced security, and compatibility with the latest graphics and wireless products.

Google Desktop SDK

Google desktop search has been officially released and can be downloaded at http://desktop.google.com/

An SDK is also available to allow developers to integrate Google Desktop Search into their own applications. More information about the SDK can be found at http://desktop.google.com/developer.html

Vector Graphics Processor for Mobile Devices

Bitboys has created a Vector Graphics Processor for Mobile Devices. A demonstration of this processor will be given at the Game Developers Conference.
