NVIDIA Corporation to Acquire Hybrid Graphics

\"NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), the worldwide leader in programmable graphics processor technologies, today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Hybrid Graphics Ltd., the leading developer of embedded 2D and 3D graphics software for handheld devices. This acquisition will enable the customers of both companies to deploy compelling graphics solutions for the entire worldwide handheld market.\"

DeleD 3D Editor 1.4 Released

\"DeleD 3D Editor 1.4 has been released. DeleD is a free level editor and 3D modeler combined into one, especially suitable for game development.\"

Sony stops manufacturing the PSOne

\"Sony entered the global gaming industry with the Japanese release of the original PlayStation in December of 1994. More than 11 years and two more consoles later, the electronics giant has pulled the plug on its first console, ceasing all production of PS units. Last September, Sony announced that the original PlayStation and its PSOne redesign had surpassed the 100 million units sold milestone.

Sony last week announced that it is working on an emulator that would allow gamers to play PS titles on the PSP. Details haven\'t been released yet, but Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutaragi said the games would be digitally distributed.\"

Fedora Core 5 offers OpenGL GUI support

\"With the next iterations of OS X and Vista offering sophisticated OpenGL API-accelerated user interfaces for desktop environments, Fedora Core 5 will offer Accelerated Indirect GLX (AIGLX) support. This is a hardware-accelerated implementation of the OpenGL API, which means desktop designers can be much more creative.\"

Mech Commander 2 Source Released

"Microsoft has opened Mech Commander 2's source under their Shared Source License. This release contains all of the source code and source assets required to build MechCommander 2 and can be used with the Microsoft XNA Build March 2006 CTP."

NVidia and Havok Collaboration

"Graphics chip developer Nvidia Corp. announced a collaboration with Havok, creators of physics engines used in leading console and PC games. The two companies have teamed up to develop game physics technology that runs on a graphics processing unit. The technology is being introduced at this week?s Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Jose, Calif."

A brilliant article, entitled The Making Of "Shadow Of The Colossus", has been released which shows many aspects of the game development process. I have recently finished the game and I must say that it is definitely one of the best PS2 games I have ever played.

Mobile Phone Camera Games from DS Effects

\"Italian mobile game publisher and developer DS Effects has announced the launch of a series of games designed specifically to be integrated with still photos captured on mobile phone handsets. The six new titles require users to capture still images using the camera on their Java-enabled phones, and whatever picture has been taken will then be used as the focal point for each of the games.\"
