Google Firefox Search Toolbar

\"Google has released Firefox search toolbar (Version 1.0.20050923) after two months in beta. One interesting addition is Google Suggest, which guesses what you\'re typing and offers useful suggestions in real time.\"

New HTML Element for Programmable Graphics

\"With Firefox 1.5 Alpha 2, a new HTML element, <canvas>, for programmable graphics is included. It can be used for rendering graphs, UI elements, and other custom graphics on the client. <canvas> creates a fixed size drawing surface that exposes one or more rendering contexts. In the future, other contexts may provide different types of rendering; for example, it is likely that a 3D context based on OpenGL ES will eventually be added to the <canvas> specification.\"

GIMP 2.0 Normal-map Generator and DDS Plug-ins

New GIMP 2.0 plug-ins have been released. A Normal-map generator plugin allows conversion of images into RGB normal maps for use in per-pixel lighting applications. The goal is to clone NVIDIA\'s photoshop plugin, with a few new useful features. A DDS plugin allows loading and saving of images in the DirectDraw Surface (DDS) format.

Xbox Launch Date

\"The New York Times is reporting that Microsoft is about to announce the Xbox 360\'s launch date...and that date will be Tuesday, November 22nd, 2005 in the United States, Friday, Dec. 2 in Europe, and Saturday, Dec. 10 in Japan. Microsoft representatives have confirmed the announcement in a statement released late Wednesday in the States.\"
